Revision in Terms and Conditions for Complimentary VIP lounge access with effect from 1 Jan 2012

Please be informed that the Terms and Conditions for Complimentary VIP lounge access will be revised with effect from 1 Jan 2012 for the following Credit Cards:

  • Horizon Platinum Visa
  • Premier Platinum MasterCard
  • Catholic High Alumni Platinum
  • Maybank Business Platinum


The revision made to the Terms and Conditions are highlighted in bold as follows:

Charge a minimum of S$400.00 on air ticket or travel package(s) to the above mentioned Maybank Credit Cards to enjoy a complimentary set meal at The Green Market at Singapore Changi Airport or a complimentary lounge access at Plaza Premium Lounge at Sultan Ismail International Airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport & Hong Kong International Airport or The Travelers' Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport within 3 months from transaction date.

Other Terms and Conditions:

  • Purchase of air ticket or travel package(s) must be charged to the abovementioned Maybank Credit Cards within 3 months prior to the travel date to enjoy the complimentary lounge access at Plaza Premium Lounge (Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong), The Travelers' Lounge (Hong Kong) or a complimentary set meal at The Green Market (Singapore) (collectively referred to as "Outlets").
  • Each eligible travel related transaction charged to a Card will entitle Cardmembers to only one complimentary access or one set meal regardless of the number of tickets purchased and whether the tickets purchased are one-way or for return travel.
  • Each non-complimentary access and access by Cardmember upon expiry of the complimentary access validity period will be chargeable to the Cardmember at $32.00 for The Green Market set meal and $31.50 per Plaza Premium Lounge /The Travelers' Lounge access.
  • Maybank reserves the right to charge the Cardmember the fees charged by the respective Outlets should there be no eligible travel related Card transaction or should the Card transaction be cancelled for any reason or should the Cardmember access the lounges more than once.
  • Maybank is not the supplier of good(s) and service(s) and makes no representation as to the quality of the good(s) and service(s) provided by the Outlets. Maybank shall not be liable for any loss, injury, liabilities, expenses or damages howsoever incurred or sustained by the Cardmember by reason of, arising from or in connection with the use or consumption of any services, products or facilities at any Outlets or for any other reason.

In line with the bank's commitment to ensure customers' information security and to combat fraud, Maybank has implemented the enhanced EMV Smart Chip with Dynamic Data Authentication (DDA) feature in your Maybank Classic Visa Card.

Benefits of enhanced EMV Smart Chip Card

  • EMV chip makes extraction of stored information by fraud syndicates more difficult
  • The Chip’s Dynamic Data Authentication (DDA) feature can reduce the chances of your Card information being cloned and used for fraudulent transactions.

Cardmember holding on to Maybank Classic Visa Card, Millennium Visa Classic Card and eCard Classic Visa (including Supplementary Credit Card) will progressively receive the enhanced EMV Smart Chip Cards due to lost, replacement and renewal request starting 30 Sep 2011. Revision of Terms and Conditions Governing Credit Cards

With effect from 1 October 2011, please be informed that the Terms & Conditions governing all Credit Cards will be revised.

The revisions made to the Terms and Conditions are highlighted in bold as follows:

  1. The Bank may at any time amend the terms and conditions of this agreement or create new terms and conditions at its discretion.

  2. Prior to any change in the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the Bank will give the Cardmember 30 days’ prior written notice. However, the obligation to give the Cardmember advance notice does not apply if the changes are required in an emergency or where it is not practicable or reasonable to give such advance notice.

  3. The method of such notification will be determined by the Bank and may include notification by way of  email, by posting the changes on the Bank’s internet website or by displaying the changes at the Bank’s branches. The Bank may however choose to inform the Cardmember by other means of communication.

  4. If the Cardmember does not agree to be bound by the changes, he shall cease all use of the Card and any services available in connection with the Card and shall terminate this Agreement immediately by giving written notice to the Bank and returning the Card duly cut in half.

  5. The Cardmember agrees that if he continues to use the Card or the services available in connection with the Card after being notified of such change to this Agreement, such use shall constitute an affirmative:
    a. acknowledgement by the Cardmember of this Agreement and its changes; and
    b. agreement by the Cardmember to abide and be bound by this Agreement and its changes.

With effect from 8 August 2011, the Terms and Conditions for eVibes 1+1 Karaoke at K Box will be revised as follows:

Singapore dollar deposits placed by such persons prescribed in the Deposit Insurance and Policy Owners’ Protection Schemes Act 2011 (the “Act”) with the Bank will be insured according to the terms and up to the amounts provided for in the Act.

 

Enactment of the Deposit Insurance and Policy Owners’ Protection Schemes Act 2011

Deposit Insurance Act 2005 has been re-enacted as Deposit Insurance and Policy Owners' Protection Schemes Act 2011. The Deposit Insurance and Policy Owners’ Protection Schemes Act 2011 (“the Act”) comes into operation on 1 May 2011.

The maximum level of coverage under the Deposit Insurance (DI) Scheme is raised from S$20,000 to S$50,000 per depositor per DI scheme member. The coverage of the DI scheme is expanded from insuring only individuals and charities, to insuring all non-bank depositors. Non-bank depositors include sole proprietorships, partnerships, companies and unincorporated entities like associations and societies.

The Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC) administers the DI Scheme in Singapore. Singapore dollar denominated deposits placed with a DI Scheme member in any of its branches in Singapore are insured in accordance with the terms provided in the Act. These include deposits or monies held in:

  • Savings accounts
  • Fixed deposit accounts
  • Current accounts
  • CPF Investment Scheme and CPF Minimum Sum Scheme accounts
  • Supplementary Retirement Scheme accounts
  • Wadiah and Murabaha accounts

Revision of Audit Confirmation Fee with effect from 1 June 2011

With effect from 1 June 2011, our Audit Confirmation Fee for Singapore Dollar (SGD) and foreign currency accounts will be revised to S$50 per request, per period. The Fee will be subject to prevailing GST solely for borrowing accounts.

Please be informed that with effect from 1 March 2011, we will no longer award cash rebates for Rewards Infinite Value. All Cardmembers who have chosen cash rebates will be converted to tr'eats Points.


Frequently Asked Questions

  • When did the Bank inform me on the cessation of Rewards Infinite Value (“RIV”) cash rebates?
    Cardmembers are being notified via “Important Notices” published in our website on 31 December 2010 as well as via statement messages in January 2011.

  • What if I wish to continue earning cash rebates instead of Treats Points?
    You may apply for our Family & Friends MasterCard Platinum where you can earn 5% cash rebates* at over 200 selected merchant outlets and 0.5% cash rebate on all your other purchases.

    * Subject to a maximum of S$600 cash rebate cap per calendar year. Once the S$600 cap is reached, Cardmembers will continue to earn 0.5% cash rebate for subsequent transactions at the selected merchants. tr’eats Points and Rewards Infinite Programme will not be applicable to the Family & Friends Platinum MasterCard.

  • For all the transactions that were charged before 1 Mar 2011, will I still be awarded with cash rebates if my RIV choice is “Cash Rebates” previously?
    All eligible transactions charged and posted before 1 March 2011 will still be awarded with the additional cash rebates.

  • Will this cessation of RIV cash rebates affect me if my RIV choice is “Treats Points”?
    Cardmembers whose RIV choice is "tr'eats Points" will not be affected.

 

 

Cessation of Maybank Business Debit Card

Maybank will stop issuing Catholic High Affinity Debit Card from 10 February 2011. All Catholic High Affinity Debit Cards currently in circulation and previously issued will be terminated on 18 March 2011.

However, the Catholic High Affinity Credit Card will continue to be in force.

 

Revision in Minimum Default Interest (With effect from 1 March 2011)

Exchange of Maybank Prepaid Card

If you:

  • have purchased a Prepaid Card between 2 January and 31 December 2010
  • are holding a Maybank Money Transfer Card

you may request for a free exchange of your Prepaid Card to one that is embedded with an EMV chip for enhanced security when you use your Card.

To exchange your existing Prepaid Card which will be valid for use till 31 December 2010, please visit any of our 22 Maybank Branches from 7 January 2011 onwards.

How to request for the exchange:

  • complete a Prepaid Card exchange form, and, if required, a Prepaid Card Registration Form
  • present the Prepaid Card to be exchanged
  • present your NRIC OR Passport with Work Permit/Employment Pass

Your replacement card will be issued on the spot, and your old Prepaid card will be destroyed at the same time.

SMS Transaction Alerts

 

With our SMS Transaction Alert, you will be informed via SMS when transactions equivalent to and above the default amount1, or your preferred threshold amount, are charged to your Card. With this service, you can be assured that any unauthorised transactions on your Card can be detected promptly. This service is available for Singapore registered mobile numbers only.

One-time Authorisation Code for Online Purchases (Credit, Debit and registered Prepaid Cards)

 

From 25 October 2010, to authenticate online purchases at participating online 3-D Secure Merchants2, you will need to key in a one-time Authorisation Code, which will be sent to your mobile number or generated by your 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) Security Token device, if you are currently using one. The Authorisation Code is required from the respective Principal/Main Cardmember, Supplementary/Joint Applicant Cardmember (where applicable) or registered Prepaid Cardmember making the online purchase.

 

 2 3-D Secure (3DS) protocol is used by banks worldwide to authenticate online card transactions. You will recognise the participating online 3DS merchants by the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode logos. When making your purchases online, 3DS would prompt the Cardmember to enter a password or Authorisation Code to authenticate the transaction. If the Authorisation Code is correct, the purchase transaction will be processed and completed.

Issuance of MasterCard EMV chip cards

 

From November 2010, we are progressively replacing all MasterCard Credit and Debit Cards (without the EMV chip) issued in Singapore with EMV compliant chip cards. With the EMV Smart Chip embedded, your Card is protected against fraudulent activities such as cloning of the data encoded on the magnetic stripe.

Reinstatement of $10,000 COE Bid Deposit for Certificate of Entitlement (COE) in Categories A, B, C and E

We wish to highlight that the one-year period for temporary reduction of bid deposit for Certificate of Entitlements (COE) in Categories A, B, C and E from $10,000 to $5,000 will cease in end September 2010.

From the first bidding exercise in October 2010, the bid deposit will be reverted to $10,000 per COE bid application. The bid deposit for Category D will remain unchanged at $200.

CPF excess funds for Home Loan customers

Please be advised that with effect from 1 September 2010, any excess CPF monies of less than S$100 after taking into consideration your monthly instalment payable will not be refunded back to the CPF Board. This amount will be applied towards reduction of the principal balance outstanding in your loan account. The excess CPF payment amount will be reflected as a separate entry with description, "Excess CPF – Cap Adj". Do note that using your CPF to make capital repayment on your housing loan will make you reach the maximum CPF withdrawal limit earlier; but it will reduce the overall interest charges. If you would like to revise the sum of CPF monies to match your current monthly instalment payable, you are required to submit the relevant CPF Form. Please visit www.cpf.gov.sg to obtain a copy of the form.

 

SaveUp Account for Consumer Loan Customer

Consumer loan customer has an option to open SaveUp Account enjoying following benefits during tenure of the loan for purposes of servicing loan repayment, fees as well as any other charges and expenses in addition to the daily deposit transaction needs:

Commitment to Fair Dealing

Maybank Singapore’s Management is committed to delivering fair dealing outcomes to our customers. The Singapore Operations has implemented a Fair Dealing framework to promote and embed the fair dealing culture.

 

Over the last one year, we have significantly strengthened our internal processes and procedures for the sale and marketing of investment products.

 

These include the following:

1) Recruitment, training & remuneration structure of advisory representatives and supervisors

2) Product selection and approval process

3) Enhanced sales advisory process

4) Clear product information that customer can reasonably understand

5) Post sales - handling of complaints

 

Recruitment – We continue to adopt a high standard of selection criteria which includes academic qualification with relevant experience. Administration of in house assessment will be conducted during recruitment to better assess the competency level of the candidate.

 

Remuneration – Revised remuneration structure places greater emphasis on non-financial components such as meeting of compliance standards, sales & service quality, customer feedback/complaint and learning competency.

 

Training and Competency – Under the Bank’s structured training and competency programme, advisory representatives and their supervisors are required to attend at least 30 hours of continuous professional training every year and pass internal assessments set.

 

Product Selection and Approval Process – Product due diligence process has been enhanced with a more rigorous assessment framework.

 

Enhanced Sales Advisory Process – Customer information gathering process is refined to facilitate better customer profiling and needs analysis.

 

With the enhancements in place, customers can be assured of receiving advice that meets their financial objectives and needs while making an informed decision in selecting a suitable investment product.

 

The Bank has engaged PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the External Person ("EP") to review the action plan. Maybank Singapore has implemented the action plan taking into consideration the EP's recommendations and is committed to ensuring that the action plan is effectively implemented on an ongoing basis.
