  1. What is Mobile Money?

    Mobile Money allows you to make payments to others via their mobile phone numbers. The Collector just needs to have a Singapore bank account and a Singapore-registered mobile number.

    Mobile Money is currently available on iPhone and selected Android phones. To use this service, simply download Maybank SG app and login to Mobile Banking using your User ID, Password and 2FA OTP.

  2. Are there any charges for using Mobile Money?

    Download Maybank SG app for free at Google Play or iTunes App Store by searching for "Maybank SG". Do note that you will still be subject to mobile data-usage charges as determined by your telco provider.

    Currently, there is no service fee imposed for collecting or sending payment via Mobile Money.

    Currently, this service is not available for Business Internet Banking customers.

  1. Who can use Mobile Money?

    To use Mobile Money to make payments, you will need to be a Maybank customer. If you are using Mobile Money to collect payments, you do not need to be one.

    To use Mobile Money for payment, you will need:

    • Your Maybank2U User ID, Password and 2FA OTP
    • A Maybank Singapore savings/current account
    • Singapore-registered mobile phone number
    • Internet connection
      • iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, (with iOS version 4.2 or more recent); iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S or
      • Samsung Galaxy SIII, Samsung Galaxy Note I & Note II or Samsung Galaxy Ace (with Android version 2.2 or more recent); or
      • HTC One X (with Android version 2.2 or more recent)

    Mobile Money will progressively be made available to other Android phones.

    To use Mobile Money to collect payment, you will need:

    • Singapore-registered mobile phone number
    • A Singapore savings/current account
    • Internet connection
      • iPhone 4S, iPhone 4(with iOS version 4.2 or more recent); iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S; or
      • Samsung Galaxy SIII, Samsung Galaxy Note I & Note II or Samsung Galaxy Ace (with Android version 2.2 or more recent); or
      • HTC One X (with Android version 2.2 or more recent)
      • Mobile Money will progressively be made available to other Android phones.

  2. What is a Mobile Money PIN?

    Mobile Money PIN is a one-time password sent to the Sender, of which the Collector needs to obtain from the Sender in order to collect the Mobile Money Payment.

  3. How do I make a Mobile Money payment?

    You can use Mobile Money to make payments to anyone who has a Singapore-registered mobile phone number and a Singapore bank account.

    Once you have made the payment, you will be provided with a unique Mobile Money PIN which you will need to disclose to the Collector.

  4. Does the Collector need to hold a Maybank account to collect a Mobile Money payment?

    No, the Collector does not need to hold a Maybank account.

  5. What happens to my money when I make a Mobile Money payment?

    Funds will be debited from your account once payment is made.

    The Collector will have to collect the payment within 7 calendar days. If the payment is not collected within this timeframe, it will be returned to the account which you sent the payment from.

  6. How long does it take for the funds to be deposited into the Collector's account?

    When a payment is collected, it may take up to 2 business days for the funds to be deposited into the Collector's bank account. A Collector depositing to a Maybank Singapore account will get the funds credited immediately.

  7. What is the maximum amount I can send through Mobile Money?

    The limit is S$500 per calendar day for all Mobile Money transactions performed within the day.

  8. How will I know the status of Mobile Money Payment?

    To view status of payments, login to Maybank Online Banking or Mobile Banking and follow the steps as follows:

    • Select Mobile Money
    • Go to Transaction Status

    Status of the following transactions will be shown

    • Pending – Pending Collection by Collector
    • Locked / Unsuccessful – Collection was unsuccessful. Money will be returned back to your account
    • Successful – Successful Collection by Collector
    • Not Collected – Collector did not collect
    • Submitted – Collector has collected

  9. What if I make a Mobile Money payment to the incorrect Collector?

    If you have made a payment to an incorrect Collector, do not disclose the Mobile Money PIN to the Collector.

  10. How will the Collector be notified that I have sent him/her a Mobile Money payment?

    The Collector will receive an SMS notifying him/her that you have sent him/her a payment.

    The Collector then needs to collect his/her payment within 7 calendar days.

  11. What happens if a Mobile Money payment that I have made is not collected?

    If a payment is not collected within 7 calendar days after you initiated the payment, the funds will be returned to the account which you originally made the payment from. No interest will be earned on pending payments.

    Yes, all payments can be viewed in the transaction history under the relevant account. Alternatively, you can view the status of payments via the following steps:

  1. How do I collect a Mobile Money payment?

    Download the "Maybank SG" app from Google Play or iTunes App Store. Alternatively, you can visit http://maybank2u.com.sg/MobileMoney.

    You will need the following in order to collect a Mobile Money payment:

    • The Mobile Money PIN (from the person sending the payment);
    • The Mobile Money Transaction Reference Code (indicated in the SMS from the Bank);
    • Your Singapore-registered mobile phone number; and
    • Your bank account number.

    Please ensure that the correct account number is entered as you will not be able to recover a payment credited to an incorrect account.

  2. What is a Mobile Money PIN?

    A Mobile Money PIN is a unique eight character numeric code that the sender will disclose to you.

  3. By when must I collect my Mobile Money payment?

    You have 7 calendar days to collect a payment from the time the sender initiates the transaction. If this timeframe expires, the funds will be returned to the sender and you will need to contact him/her to arrange for another payment.

    It is advisable to collect before 10 PM on the 7th Day to avoid system unavailability due to service maintenance.

  4. When will a collected Mobile Money payment be credited to my account?

    When a payment is collected, it may take up to 2 business days for the funds to be deposited into your bank account. If you choose to credit into a Maybank Singapore account, you will get the funds immediately.

  6. What happens if I enter an incorrect account number when collecting a Mobile Money payment?

    Please ensure that the account number is correct before confirming the collection transaction. Maybank is not responsible for any loss suffered due to incorrect information being entered when collecting a payment.

  7. How do I save an account number that I frequently use for Collection?

    During collection, you can tap on the button "Save this account for future transaction" and the account number will be saved for your future collections. Please note that any account number saved will be auto purged after two months of inactivity.

  8. What happens if my phone is lost or stolen?

    Inform the Sender immediately so as to prevent the disclosure of PIN to your lost mobile phone. Your account information will not be stored on the phone and therefore, your account will not be compromised.

  9. What happens if I change my mobile phone number?

    Inform the Sender of the new mobile phone number. If you have saved your account number to the previous mobile number for future collections, the account number will automatically be purged after 2 months of inactivity.

  10. Will details of my Mobile Money payments appear on my mobile phone bill?

    No. Details of Mobile Money payments will only appear on the bank statement for the account from which you have used the service, and not on your mobile phone bill as supplied by your telco provider.

  11. Why didn’t I receive the email of the transaction?

    Please check the spam folder of your mail box. Notwithstanding this, your Mobile Money transactions will still be processed.

  12. Why do I still need to key in the Authorisation Code after keying in the Transaction Code and PIN?

    It is used to authenticate your Collection transaction.

  1. I am not able to register for Mobile Money

    To register for Mobile Money, you will need to have a Singapore-registered mobile number and have registered for the New Security Token. You can update your mobile number in the "Update of Particulars" link under "Customer Service" tab.

  2. What if the Collector claims that he/she did not receive the SMS Transaction Code?

    If the payment is not collected within this timeframe, it will be returned to the account which you sent the payment from.

  3. What if the Collector did not receive the SMS PIN?

    • Click on "Transaction Status"
    • Go to "Pending Transactions"
    • Click on "Generate PIN" to re-trigger the PIN to your mobile phone.
      The expiry date for the collection remains unchanged even if you Generate PIN again.
