Big wins for Maybank Islamic Banking
Maybank Islamic Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, Arshad Mohamed Ismail, posing with our awards at The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2017.

Maybank, the largest Islamic bank in ASEAN in terms of assets, continues to grow from strength to strength. In June, we were named 'The Islamic Bank of the Year 2017 for Asia-Pacific and Malaysia' by London-based financial publication, The Banker. The steady growth of our Islamic banking business in Singapore and Indonesia also contributed to the bank being recognised as the best in Asia-Pacific.

In addition, Maybank recently won three awards at The Asset Triple A Islamic Finance Awards 2017 - 'Bank of the Year, Asia-Pacific', 'Bank of the Year, Singapore' and 'Best Deal, Singapore'. The 'Best Deal' award was for the landmark S$260m Islamic financing deal inked between RB Capital and Maybank, which was a first-of-its-kind Islamic term facility in Singapore backed by the Holiday Inn Express Singapore Clarke Quay as an underlying security.

Community Engagement

Maybank helps to improve living conditions for the needy on its Global CR Day
ESM Goh Chok Tong and Datuk Lim Hong Tat, Maybank Singapore CEO jointly launch Maybank's Corporate Responsibility (CR) Day at a carnival organised in Marine Parade for beneficiaries of WeCare@MarineParade and Montfort Care.

In every country that we operate in, Maybank is committed to being at the heart of the community.

For this year's Maybank Global Corporate Responsibility Day on 19 August, about 1,000 Maybank staff in Singapore volunteered in community projects to help improve the living conditions for four beneficiary groups - lonely seniors, vulnerable families, mental health patients and people with intellectual disabilities.

Our staff carried out different initiatives aimed at creating a lasting impact on the beneficiaries, such as home improvement projects for the seniors and families, and painting of wall murals to brighten up the environment in the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and MINDSville Home. In addition, staff also organised various social activities to engage and bring joy to the beneficiaries.

Special thanks to our community partners: Lions Befrienders, Montfort Care, WeCare@Marine Parade, IMH and MINDS.
