Maybank Singapore launches a new comprehensive reward programme for its credit card customers
18 May 2001
Maybank Singapore will launch a new value added reward programme, the Topaz Club, that is all about addressing our customers' concerns and turning them into benefits to be enjoyed by our Visa card members. The Topaz Club will be launched at the movie preview of Hollywood blockbuster, The Mummy Returns, to be held on 21 May 2001 at 7.15 p.m. at United Artists Beach Road.
Maybank Singapore's Assistant General Manager, Banking Business, Mr Loh Oun Hean, said, "Topaz Club will not be just an ordinary reward programme, as it seeks to turn risks usually borne by card members into rewards to be enjoyed. This clearly reflects our philosophy of putting our customers first and listening to them.
The Ancient Greeks believed that topaz provides strength and Maybank Singapore aims to strengthen our existing relationship with our Card members. As such, the gemstone was chosen as the name of Maybank's new value added programme not only for its strengthening qualities, but also its amber yellow colour that matches the striking corporate colour of Maybank."
An example of our customers' concerns being turned into a benefit is Topaz Club's Zero Lost Card Liability. This feature protects Topaz Club members against any fraudulent charges made to their credit cards when they are lost or stolen. The club member's liability will be limited to S$500 before the report of loss and absolutely nothing after a report has been made.
Another newly introduced benefit is the Non-Expiry of MayDollars unlike most of the other cards available in the market. With the introduction of this feature, Maybank is able to introduce higher value items to its MayDollar Rewards Programme. Topaz Club members will be able to accumulate MayDollars up to 1,000,000 points to redeem their desired items without any time constraint.
Members of the Topaz Club will also be able to double the value of their MayDollars during the mid-year and year-end festive months. This exclusive privilege will essentially allow club members to claim the rewards of their choice at a faster pace.
Topaz Club members who are current Malaysian Airlines System (MAS) Enrich members will be automatically enrolled into the Maybank-Enrich Frequent Flyer Programme. Upon enrolment, they will enjoy the free conversion of MayDollars into Enrich Award Points for frequent flyer miles, while non-Topaz members will have to pay an annual fee of S$20 to enjoy this service.
Topaz Club members will get to enjoy discounts on selected insurance plans for not only themselves, but also their families in times of emergencies. Club members will enjoy a five per cent discount when they purchase selected insurance plans underwritten by Mayban Assurance. However, following the Topaz Club launch, members will enjoy a 10 percent discount that is valid for two months and is applicable for plans like MayVoyage, Home Assurance and Personal Accident Insurance.
The other benefits in store for Topaz Club members include birthday surprises, workshops, seminars, and movie previews, as well as discounts at selected retailers.
